Fischer Connector Usage and Maintenance

Prev Next

This article explains how to plug in, clean, and inspect Fischer connectors on Hovermap to maintain reliable connections and prevent damage.

What you will need

  • Clean, dry compressed air.

  • A lint-free cloth.

  • The rubber cap supplied with the Hovermap connector.

Plug in a Fischer connector

  1. Align the dots. Ensure the alignment markers on the connector and socket are matched before insertion.

  2. Insert straight. Push the connector in without twisting or applying sideways pressure.

  3. Engage the latch. Continue pushing until the latch clicks into place.

  4. Confirm the connection. Gently pull back on the connector to verify it is fully locked.

When a cable is not plugged in, replace the rubber cap on the Hovermap connector to protect it from dust and debris.

Clean a Fischer connector

  1. Inspect before cleaning. Check both the cable connector and the Fischer connector on Hovermap for any visible debris or damage.

  2. Remove debris. Use clean, dry compressed air to blow out dust or particles. Avoid liquids or solvents.

  3. Wipe surfaces. If required, use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the connector surface.

  4. Prevent contamination. Keep connectors covered with the rubber cap when not connected to reduce exposure to dust and debris.

In dusty environments, clean the connector every two weeks or more frequently if conditions require.

Identify a damaged connector

  1. Check the collar. Look for chips, cracks, or wear on the inner connector collar.

  2. Inspect the pins. Verify that all pins are straight, intact, and free from damage.

  3. Look for contamination. Check for dust, debris, or corrosion inside the connector.

  4. Assess serviceability. If the connector shows damage, heavy wear, or debris that cannot be removed, contact Emesent Client Support.

If any damage is found, contact Emesent Client Support with photos of the damage. Do not continue using a damaged connector.

Outcome

Fischer connectors are correctly seated, regularly maintained, and inspected for damage. Reliable connections are maintained between Hovermap and its accessories.
