This article explains how to handle, transport, store, and ship the Hovermap unit so that it stays in good working order. The Hovermap unit is a precision survey instrument. Careful handling protects its calibration and accuracy.
Handling
Treat the Hovermap unit as a precision instrument. Impacts, drops and rough handling can affect calibration and accuracy, even when there is no visible damage.
The Hovermap unit is designed to IP65. This gives protection against dust ingress and against low-pressure water jets from any direction. The unit is not protected against impact.
Do not operate or leave the unit in precipitation or heavy fog. These conditions can cause moisture ingress or condensation and can damage the unit internally.
Keep the unit in its hard case when it is not mounted for a scan. Lift the unit and set it down carefully.
If the unit is dropped or takes a significant impact, refer to Maintenance and service before the next scan.
Transport
Transport the unit in its closed hard case. The hard case protects the unit against impact, dust and moisture in transit.
Handle the hard case carefully and protect it from impact. Do not throw or drop the hard case.
During transport, secure the hard case so that it cannot slide, tip or take repeated impacts.
Keep the hard case away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
After transport from a cool environment into a hot or humid environment, let the unit acclimate for a minimum of 5 minutes before the mission. This prevents lens fogging.
Storage
Examine the unit before storage. Refer to Maintenance and service.
Disconnect the battery and remove all power and data cables from the unit.
Make sure that the unit is clean and free from dust, debris, and moisture.
Make sure that the USB dust cover on the rear panel is fully closed.
Attach the protective cover to the LiDAR Puck.
Store the unit clean and dry in its hard case, between −10 °C and 45 °C (14 °F to 113 °F).
Do not leave the unit in extreme heat, extreme cold, direct sunlight, or damp conditions for long periods.
Shipping
Ship the unit in its hard case, inside a cardboard box that protects the hard case from impact.
To return the unit to Emesent for service or repair, contact Emesent Support first for shipping instructions.
The Core SWX Nano 98S battery is lithium-ion and is subject to dangerous-goods regulations. Follow the regional dangerous-goods practice for the carrier and the transport mode, including any state-of-charge requirement.
The Core SWX Nano 98S has a capacity of 98 Wh. Capacity changes how a carrier classifies a battery, so confirm the capacity before shipment.
Original packaging is not usually necessary for returns. If a battery is damaged, contact Emesent Support before shipment.
