Maintenance and Service

Prev Next

This article describes how to keep Hovermap in good working order, what to check after use, and how to request Emesent service.

What you will need

  • Low-pressure compressed air.

  • A dry, lint-free swab.

Procedure

Step 1: Check Hovermap

Check Hovermap after use to confirm that it is in good condition and ready to scan again.

  1. Check that the LiDAR Puck rotates smoothly and freely.

  2. If there is unusual resistance, vibration, or noise, stop using Hovermap and contact Emesent Support.

  3. Check that all Fischer and USB connectors are clean, undamaged, and free from corrosion.

  4. Clean the connector faces with low-pressure compressed air or a dry, lint-free swab.

  5. Check the LiDAR lens for dust, smudges, contamination, or surface damage such as scratches.

Step 2: Complete corrective maintenance

Complete the maintenance that the check identifies. Correct maintenance prevents early wear and keeps performance stable.

Do not repair damaged components. Incorrect repair can cause more damage to Hovermap.

  1. Clean the LiDAR lens. Refer to Cleaning the LiDAR lens.

  2. Clean the connector faces. Refer to Fischer connector usage and maintenance.

Step 3: Request service

Request service from Emesent for damage that the operator cannot correct.

If Hovermap was involved in an event during autonomous or pilot-assist flight, submit an aircraft incident report to Emesent Support immediately. Refer to Report an aircraft incident or near-miss. Do not use remote validation to report a flight incident.

  1. Contact Emesent Support about damaged connectors or components.

  2. If scan accuracy is worse than expected, submit a remote validation dataset. Refer to Capture a remote validation dataset.

Outcome

Hovermap is checked and any faults are identified or reported. Hovermap is ready to scan again, or to store.

Additional information

  • Check Hovermap after use, not only before storing it.

  • Operation outside the rated temperature range can affect accuracy. Contact Emesent Support if Hovermap operates outside this range.
