This article explains how to handle, transport, store, and ship GX1 so it stays within calibration and in good working order. GX1 is a precision survey instrument: handle it carefully to protect its calibration and accuracy.
Handling
Treat GX1 as a precision instrument. Impacts, drops, and rough handling can affect calibration and accuracy, even when no damage is visible.
GX1 is designed to resist dust and water ingress, not impact, so protect it from knocks and drops.
Keep GX1 in its hard case whenever it is not mounted for a scan, and lift and set it down deliberately.
If GX1 is dropped or takes a significant impact, follow GX1 maintenance and service before scanning again.
Transport
Fit the GX1 Hood over the top of GX1 to cover the cameras before transport, protecting the optics.
Transport GX1 in its closed hard case to protect it against impact, dust, and moisture in transit.
Handle the hard case with care and protect it from impact; do not throw or drop it.
During transport, secure the hard case so it cannot slide, tip, or sustain repeated impacts.
Keep the hard case away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Storage
Store GX1 clean and dry in its hard case, within its rated range of -10°C to 45°C (14°F to 113°F).
Keep the GX1 Hood fitted over the cameras while GX1 is stored.
Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, cold, direct sunlight, or damp.
Remove the batteries from GX1 before storing it. See GX1 batteries.
Shipping
Ship GX1 in its hard case, inside a cardboard box that protects the hard case from impact.
To return GX1 to Emesent for service or repair, contact Emesent support first for shipping instructions. See How to contact support.
GX1 batteries are lithium-ion and subject to dangerous-goods regulations when shipped. Follow standard regional dangerous-goods practice for the carrier and transport mode, including any state-of-charge requirement.
Original packaging is not usually required for returns. If the battery is damaged or affected, contact Emesent support before shipping.
