Colorize a merged dataset in Aura

Prev Next

This article explains how to colorize a merged dataset in Aura. A merged dataset is colorized one scan at a time: merge the datasets first, then run a separate Colorization processing job for each individual scan in the merge. For colorizing a single scan, see Colorize a point cloud in Aura.

What you will need

  • The datasets already merged in Aura. See Merge scans in Aura.

  • A camera and Hovermap set up correctly following the Colorization initial setup guide.

  • Video footage recorded during each mission in the merge, using a supported, calibrated, and correctly configured camera.

  • The video files (.mp4 or .360) for each scan stored in the corresponding scan folder.

  • An active Colorization license in Aura.

Each scan in the merge is colorized as its own processing job. Repeat the procedure for every scan file in the merged dataset.

Procedure

Step 1: Add the merged dataset

  1. Select the Colorize workflow in the Processing Tray.

  2. Add the scan folder that contains the merged dataset output.

  3. Set the merge output folder as the scan folder.

Step 2: Select the scan and video files

  1. Select the first scan file to colorize.

  2. Select the video files that correspond to the selected scan file.

  3. Save the configuration.

Step 3: Process each scan

Each scan is colorized as a separate processing job, so the frame review prompt appears once for each scan in the merge. To turn the pause off before starting, see Skip the frame review pause.

  1. Adjust processing settings as required. See Processing settings.

  2. Start processing.

  3. Repeat Step 2 and Step 3 for each additional scan file, selecting the appropriate scan file and matching video files each time.

Outcome

Each scan in the merged dataset has been colorized and is available in its output folder. The colorized point clouds can be viewed in the Viewport, and the extracted image frames and pose CSVs are available for export to third-party platforms.
