This article explains how to connect a Leica GS18 GNSS receiver to a Hovermap using the Vehicle RTK or Backpack RTK mount. Use this procedure to prepare your hardware before configuring the receiver settings.

What you will need

  • Hovermap unit

  • Vehicle RTK or Backpack RTK mount

  • GNSS receiver

  • GNSS adaptor cable

  • Leica cable (black Lemo connector)

  • 100 mm spacers x2 (Leica GS18 with Backpack unit only)

Procedure

Step 1: Setup the RTK Mount and Receiver

  1. Refer to the appropriate Knowledge Base article for instructions on how to set up your mount and attach the GNSS receiver:

Step 2: Connect to Hovermap

  1. Confirm the Hovermap and GNSS receiver are attached to the Vehicle RTK or Backpack RTK mount.

When using the Leica GS18 with the Backpack unit, please use both 100mm spacers (200mm total offset) to ensure the correct offset in Aura.

Step 3: Connect the GNSS adaptor cable

  1. Plug the GNSS adaptor cable into the RTK mount.

  2. Fasten the adaptor to the magnetic plate.

Step 4: Connect the Leica cable

  1. Plug the Leica cable into the receiver.

  2. Plug the other end (black Lemo connector) into the GNSS adaptor port.

Outcome

The Leica receiver is now set up to work with your Vehicle RTK or Backpack RTK unit.
