Remove the Backpack Harness

Prev Next

This article explains how to remove the Backpack Harness safely with the GX1 attached, using a raised surface to support the load. Do this at the end of a scan or when the backpack is no longer needed.

Prerequisites

  • The GX1 backpack, worn by the operator

  • A raised surface (table, bench, or similar)

Procedure

Step 1: Set the backpack down on a raised surface

  1. Stand near a raised, stable surface (table, bench, or vehicle tray), with enough clear space to remove the GX1 and backpack without contacting nearby objects.

  2. Back up to the surface and lower the backpack gently onto it until the surface takes the load.

  3. Confirm the backpack is stable on the surface and cannot tip or slide.

Step 2: Release the straps

  1. Unclip the Sternum Strap.

  2. Unclip the Hip Belt.

  3. Loosen the Shoulder Straps evenly.

Step 3: Remove the backpack

  1. Slide one arm out of a Shoulder Strap, then the other, keeping control of the backpack as it rests on the surface.

  2. Confirm the backpack is stable on the surface before stepping away.

Outcome

The backpack is removed and resting stably on the surface, with the GX1 still attached. The operator can power off the GX1 or store the backpack. See Power GX1 on and off.

Important considerations

Maintain control of the backpack and the GX1 throughout removal to prevent tipping or sudden movement. See Warnings and safety.
