Recover DJI flight Records

Prev Next

his article explains how to recover flight records and log files from a DJI aircraft after an incident or unexpected flight behaviour. These records help the Emesent Client Support team investigate the cause of the issue.

When to recover flight records

Recover flight records when:

  • The DJI aircraft has been involved in a hazardous incident or near-miss.

  • The aircraft has displayed unexpected flight behaviour.

  • Emesent Client Support has requested flight records as part of an investigation.

If the Hovermap has also been involved in an incident or near-miss, see Report an aircraft incident or near-miss for the full reporting process.

What you will need

  • The DJI tablet or device that was used during the flight.

  • The DJI remote controller used during the flight.

  • A USB cable to connect the tablet to the remote controller, or to connect the controller to a computer.

  • A computer with internet access (for sharing the files with Emesent Client Support).

If running the Emesent Commander app for the first time, the Allow registration with DJI to use DJI drones option must be enabled on the user information registration page. Otherwise, enable it on the Application settings page via the Options Menu.

Procedure

Flight records and log files are retrieved using a USB connection between the tablet (or computer) and the remote controller. The exact steps depend on which DJI app and hardware combination was used during the flight.

For the DJI RC Plus controller with DJI Pilot 2

If the flight was conducted using the DJI RC Plus remote controller (or a CrystalSky monitor) running the DJI Pilot app, follow the DJI export guide:

For DJI Fly or DJI GO apps

If the flight was conducted using the DJI Fly or DJI GO apps, follow the DJI export guide:

Share the records with Emesent

Once recovered, share the flight records (required) and log files (optional) with Emesent through the Client Support form. The Emesent Client Support team uses these records to investigate the incident and identify the cause.

  • Download DJI onboard log files.

  • Report an aircraft incident or near-miss.

  • Recover Aura log files for Hovermap-side diagnostic data.
