Offload GX1 scan data

Prev Next

This article explains how to offload scan data from the GX1 to a portable SSD, ready for processing in Aura.

What you will need

  • A GX1 with completed scan data on internal storage.

  • A portable SSD with a USB-C connection and capacity for the scan.

  • An Android device running a supported version of Commander, connected to the GX1.

  • A Windows workstation with Aura installed and a local SSD for scan data. See Process GX1 scan data.

How offload works

When an authorized portable SSD is connected, the GX1 automatically copies the Current folder to it. Commander must be open and connected to authorize the SSD. The authorization can be remembered, so the same SSD is not re-authorized unless the GX1 is factory reset.

The GX1 keeps scans in two folders: the Current folder holds scans that have not yet been offloaded, and the Transferred folder holds scans that have. Only the Current folder is offloaded automatically. To offload a scan from the Transferred folder, move it back to Current using the WebUI. See Select scans to offload using the WebUI below.

Procedure

Step 1: Connect the portable SSD to the GX1

  1. Power on the GX1 with a charged battery installed.

  2. Confirm Commander is open and connected to the GX1.

  3. Connect the portable SSD to the GX1 USB-C interface.

Step 2: Authorize the SSD in Commander

  1. When Commander prompts to authorize the connected SSD, confirm the device.

  2. To avoid re-authorizing the same SSD, choose the option to remember the device. Re-authorization is needed only if the GX1 is factory reset.

Once the SSD is authorized, the GX1 begins copying the Current folder to the SSD automatically.

Step 3: Verify and disconnect

  1. Wait for the offload to complete. The GX1 LED ring spins blue while offloading and returns to a slow blue pulse when the transfer is finished.

  2. Disconnect the portable SSD from the GX1.

Step 4: Transfer scan data to the processing workstation

Do not process scan data directly from a portable SSD, external drive, or network drive. Aura must process from a local SSD on the workstation.

  1. Connect the portable SSD to the Windows workstation running Aura.

  2. Copy the scan data folder from the portable SSD to a local SSD on the workstation.

  3. Continue with Process GX1 scan data.

Select scans to offload using the WebUI

Use the WebUI, accessed through Commander, to choose which scans are offloaded and to download individual scans over Wi-Fi.

Move a scan back to the Current folder

With the GX1 powered on and Commander connected, open the WebUI through Commander.

  1. Open the Transferred folder and select the scans to offload.

  2. Move the selected scans to the Current folder.

  3. Connect the authorized portable SSD. Offload of the Current folder begins automatically.

Download a scan over Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi download is optional and is an alternative to offloading to a portable SSD. Transfer over Wi-Fi can be slow. For large scans, power the GX1 over USB-C rather than from the battery.

With Commander connected, open the WebUI through Commander.

  1. Open the Current folder.

  2. Navigate to the scan and select Download to transfer it to the connected device over Wi-Fi.

  3. Offloaded data will be transferred to the Downloads Folder on the connected device.

Outcome

After completing these steps, the scan data is on a local SSD on the workstation and ready for processing in Aura.
