This article explains how to assemble the Hovermap protective cage and mount the Hovermap unit, ready for shaft scanning operations.
What you will need
Hovermap protective cage (both halves, with all included hardware).
Hovermap unit.
The six supplied nuts for the cage frame.
The four screws and vibration isolation dampers (pre-attached to the carbon fibre plate).
Procedure
Step 1: Prepare the cage
Remove all items from the packaging.
Align the two halves of the cage so they are a mirror image of each other, as shown in the figures below.
Install the six supplied nuts onto the captive screws in the cage frame.
Step 2: Mount Hovermap on the dovetail
Remove the four screws from the vibration isolation dampers attached to the carbon fibre plate.
Install the Hovermap unit onto the dovetail mount.
The vibration isolation dampers should be on the same side as the dovetail and Hovermap.
Place the Hovermap unit in the orientation shown below. Ensure the unit is generally centred within the cage. If installed upside down, the Hovermap unit will be off-centre.
Step 3: Install the rear cover
Install the fixed half of the plastic rear cover by reinstalling the four screws through the plastic cover and the metal frame, into the four vibration dampers.
Align the frame holes with the vibration isolation dampers and reinstall the four screws.
