This article explains how to upload color calibration files to Hovermap using a USB flash drive and the Hovermap Web UI.
Color calibration is performed by Emesent or an authorized partner. The calibration files used in this procedure are generated and provided by Emesent or an authorized partner. If a unit's color calibration appears incorrect, contact a regional partner or Emesent Client Support.
What you will need
A USB flash drive formatted in exFAT.
The calibration files provided by Emesent for the specific Hovermap unit.
Hovermap running Software version 3.x or later.
Emesent Commander installed on a supported device.
Procedure
Step 1: Copy the calibration files
Create a new folder in the root directory of the USB flash drive used to upload the calibration files to Hovermap.
Name the folder in the following format:
<hardware_id>_calibration
The hardware_id appears when the Device section is expanded in the Web UI to display the Hovermap's properties.
The numerical part of hardware_id matches the Hovermap unit serial number, which can also be read from the serial number sticker on the unit.
For example, folder names follow this pattern depending on Hovermap model:
Hovermap model | Folder name format |
|---|---|
Hovermap ST / ST-X |
|
where xxxx is the numerical payload identifier (the unit serial number).
Example: for an ST-X with serial number 5150, the folder is named ST_5150_calibration.
Save the calibration files into the newly created folder.

Step 2: Power on Hovermap
Connect a fully charged battery to Hovermap.
Power on Hovermap.
Wait for the startup sequence to complete. Proceed once the status LED displays slow pulsing Emesent blue.
Step 3: Connect to the Hovermap network
On a supported tablet or Android phone, connect to the Hovermap Wi-Fi network:
SSID:
st_XXXX(whereXXXXis the unit serial number on the serial number sticker)Password:
hovermap

Step 4: Open the Web UI
In Commander, select the (☰) icon in the top-left corner to open the Options menu.
Select Web UI. The Web UI opens.

Alternative: using a web browser
The Web UI is also accessible from any browser on a computer or mobile device, without Commander.
Open a web browser and navigate to hover.map.
Open Device → Web UI.
Step 5: Insert the USB flash drive
Insert the prepared USB flash drive into Hovermap.

Step 6: Upload calibration files
Ensure the USB flash drive is connected to Hovermap and the status LED displays slow pulsing Emesent blue.
In the Web UI, select Yes when prompted to apply the calibration file update.

The Transfer Log in the Web UI reports the outcome of the calibration file transfer. On a successful upload, the log confirms that the calibration files loaded successfully, then displays
Copying Complete - Remove USB.

In the example shown, the calibration file transfer is unsuccessful. The payload calibration files are already up to date, so Hovermap aborts the transfer without copying new files.
Step 7: Restart Hovermap
Once the upload is complete, restart Hovermap.
Outcome
The new calibration files are applied and used by Hovermap for colorization on future scans. For further support, contact Emesent Client Support.
