Colorization initial setup guide
Before using Hovermap for colorization, the GoPro camera must be paired, updated, and configured with the correct settings.
This ensures:
- Optional remote start/stop recording through the Quik app
- Up-to-date firmware for stability and compatibility
- Correct video configuration required for successful processing
Requirements
To complete this setup, you will need:
- A supported GoPro camera (Max, Hero 7, Hero 8, Hero 9, Hero 10, Hero 11)
- A stable internet connection (for firmware updates)
- (optional) The GoPro Quik app (installed on a phone or tablet)
Process
Step 1: Pair the GoPro Camera
Pairing enables remote control of the camera through the Quik app.

Enabling Bluetooth reduces GoPro battery life. If remote control is not required, disable these features and start video manually to extend available recording time.
Step 2: Update Camera Firmware
Keeping firmware updated ensures stability and compatibility.

Close other apps during the update. Some may cause Bluetooth conflicts and interrupt the process.
Step 3: Adjust Camera Settings
To ensure successful colorization, the GoPro must be configured with the correct video, Protune, and shortcut settings. Incorrect setup will result in unprocessable data, requiring the scan to be repeated.
Incorrect setup or GoPro settings will result in unprocessable data. If this occurs, the scan must be recaptured.
