Settings for GoPro Hero Max

To ensure consistent, high-quality results, your GoPro must be configured with the required settings listed below. Some options may vary by model; if a setting isn’t available, simply skip it. Follow the steps to apply all settings directly on the camera.

 

Process

Step 1: Select 360 Video Profile

Follow the steps below to configure your GoPro Max for colorization scans.

On GoPro
  • From the main capture screen, press the globe icon (bottom left) until 360 Video is selected.

From GoPro Quik app
  • Once connected to the GoPro, tap the globe icon (bottom right) until 360 Video is selected.

 

Step 2: Set Orientation Lock

On GoPro
  • Swipe down from the top of the touch display.
  • Hold the GoPro in the upright position with the record button facing upwards.
  • Tap the Orientation Lock button (bottom right corner).
    • When correctly set, the icon appears as a square with a single triangle on top.

    • If the icon shows a square with triangles on both the top and bottom, the orientation is not correctly locked.

From GoPro Quik app
  • Orientation Lock cannot be adjusted from the Quik app.

 

Step 3: Adjust General Settings

On GoPro
  • Swipe down from the top of the touch display.
  • Tap Preferences.

From GoPro Quik app
  • Once connected, press the Settings icon (middle right).

Step 4: 360 Video Preferences

On GoPro
  • From the main screen, tap the 360 Video profile at the bottom.

  • Once connected, tap the 360 Video profile at the bottom of the screen.

Step 5: Adjust Protune Settings

  • Open Video Preferences (as above) and scroll down to the Protune section.

Step 6: On-Screen Shortcuts

Open Video Preferences (as above) and scroll down to the On-Screen Shortcuts section.

Step 7: Save Settings

  • On the GoPro Max, settings are saved automatically as they are changed.
  • All changes are stored in the selected profile (default 360 Video profile).
  • To prevent accidental changes you can lock the GoPro touch screen.

Settings can still be modified from the Quik app or if the screen is later unlocked.

How to lock the screen:
  1. Swipe down from the top of the touch display.
  2. Press the Lock button (top right corner).
