Mission Control Panel

The Mission control panel provides the operator with the controls and indicators required to manage a scan. From this panel, the operator can start or stop a mission, assign a scan name, monitor storage capacity, view system time, and check hardware status.

Start/Stop Control

The Start/Stop control is located at the top center of the panel. It is used to begin or end a scan, and its label changes depending on Hovermap's current state.

Button

Description

Appears when Hovermap is ready. Starts a new scan when selected.

Appears during an active scan. Ends the current scan when selected.

Appears during transitions (e.g., data transfer). No action is available until the transition is complete.

System State Indicator

The system state indicator is located directly below the Start/Stop button. It displays Hovermap’s current state with a colored dot.

Button

Description

A green dot and “Active” text are displayed when Hovermap is powered and ready to perform scanning operations.

A red dot and “Stopped” text are displayed when Hovermap is idle and not performing any scanning operations.

Scan Name Field

The scan name field is located in the center of the panel, next to the tick button. It allows the operator to assign or edit the name of the current scan.

  • The text turns orange when modified.

  • The text returns to white once confirmed with the tick button.

System Time

The system time is displayed in the lower left of the panel. It shows the current system time in 24-hour format.

Storage Indicator

The storage indicator is displayed in the lower center of the panel. It shows the available capacity of the internal solid-state drive as both a numeric value and a progress bar.

  • The text changes to orange when more than 50% full.

  • The text changes to red when more than 90% full.

Status Icons

The status icons are displayed at the bottom of the panel. They show the current status of onboard systems.

Description

IMU Valid

A green check indicates the IMU is valid. A red or orange icon indicates a degraded or failed state.

LiDAR Valid

A green check indicates the LiDAR is valid. A red or orange icon indicates a degraded or failed state.

USB Mounted

A green check indicates a USB device is mounted and active. A red icon indicates no USB device is present.

GPS/RTK

Icons appear when a GPS or RTK module is connected.

Only start a scan when IMU and LiDAR icons are green. Persistent red or orange indicators require escalation to Emesent Support.
