Install SIM card

This article explains how to install a SIM card in the GX1. Use this procedure to enable cellular connectivity on your device.

Contact your local Emesent reseller or Emesent directly for assistance choosing the best SIM.

What you will need

  • GX1 unit

  • Nano-SIM card

Procedure

Step 1: Confirm the GX1 scanner is not actively scanning

  1. Confirm the GX1 scanner is not active before proceeding.

Step 2: Remove the battery bay door

  1. Locate the battery bay door on the GX1.

  2. Pinch and pull the battery bay door to remove it.

Step 3: Release the SIM card tray

  1. Locate the SIM card tray on the right side of the battery bay.

  2. Press the tray inward to release the spring lock. You will hear an audible click, and the tray will pop out slightly.

  3. Gently remove the SIM card tray.

Step 4: Insert the SIM card

  1. Place the nano-SIM card into the tray.

  2. Slide the tray and nano-SIM card into the slot.

  3. Press the tray in until you hear a click. This confirms the tray is fully seated.

Outcome

After completing these steps, the nano-SIM card is installed and the GX1 will automatically connect to the network. If the device does not connect, configure the SIM settings in Commander. See Configure SIM settings in Commander.

Additional information

  • Ensure the GX1 scanner is not active before opening the battery bay. Proceeding while the scanner is active may cause data loss or hardware damage.
