This article explains how to connect Commander to GX1 over GX1's Wi-Fi access point. Once connected, Commander can configure GX1, run scans, and offload scan data.
What you will need
GX1 powered on and in its ready state. See Power GX1 on and off.
An Android tablet or mobile device with the latest version of Commander installed.
Current Wi-Fi password for GX1. On a new or factory-reset GX1, the default Wi-Fi password is
hovermap.
Procedure
Step 1: Join the GX1 Wi-Fi network
On the Android device, open the Wi-Fi settings.
Select the network named
GX1_<serial>, where<serial>is the GX1 serial number.Enter the Wi-Fi password and connect.
Step 2: Open Commander
On the Android device, open Commander.
Sign in if prompted.
Wait for Commander to connect to GX1.
Confirm the GX1 serial number appears in the top-right corner of Commander, next to the Wi-Fi icon.
Outcome
Commander is connected to GX1. Configuration, scanning, and offload options for GX1 are available in Commander.
Additional information
GX1 broadcasts its own Wi-Fi access point and does not need to join an external network. For details on the network interfaces GX1 exposes, see Understand GX1 network interfaces and exposed services.
On the first connection to a new GX1, Commander prompts the operator to set a new Wi-Fi password. The new password must be at least 15 characters. The new password takes effect after the next GX1 reboot.
