Prepare for the introduction of Concurrent User Licensing in Aura
Aura is transitioning from hardware-based license access to a system that uses individual user accounts. This change enables license entitlements to be centrally managed and accessed by authorized users without relying on physical dongles. See the full FAQ for details.
Overview
What is Concurrent User Licensing?
-
Concurrent User Licensing, introduced in Aura 2.0, replaces physical hardware dongles with individual user accounts. Organizations are allocated a shared pool of processing seats based on their existing dongle entitlements. These seats can be accessed by authorized users, with usage managed on a concurrent, first-come-first-served basis.
Who can access Aura 2.0 under Concurrent User Licensing?
-
Organizations can register individual user accounts to process data in Aura 2.0. The number of available concurrent seats is determined by the organization's existing hardware dongle entitlements. Any registered user within the organization can log in and process data, provided a seat is available.
Why is Aura moving away from dongles?
-
Aura is moving away from physical dongles to streamline the licensing experience and improve usability. Managing access through user accounts simplifies setup, reduces reliance on hardware, and creates a more flexible and reliable way to process data.
What are the benefits of Concurrent User Licensing?
-
Concurrent User Licensing allows multiple authorized users to share access to available processing seats without the need for physical dongles. This enables faster setup, access from any compatible device, and reduced risk of downtime due to lost or damaged hardware.
When will this change take place?
-
Concurrent User Licensing will be required with the release of Aura 2.0, expected in the coming months. Emesent and its partners will provide launch announcements, setup instructions, and reminders regarding the licensing transition to ensure all users are well-prepared.
What is required to prepare for Aura 2.0?
To ensure a smooth transition to Aura 2.0 and Concurrent User Licensing, each organization should nominate a transition contact. This individual will serve as the primary liaison during the rollout, coordinating access for users within your organization, and supporting a seamless transition to Concurrent User Licensing.
Step 1: Nominate the organization's Transition Contact
Pre-register the nominated transition contact by completing the Aura 2.0 Transition Contact Form. This will help ensure the organization's access is configured ahead of the Aura 2.0 release and prevent any delays.
The transition contact should:
-
Be familiar with Aura and actively use it
-
Able to identify and nominate users within the organization who require access.
-
Be readily available to support communications and coordination during the rollout
Once the form is submitted, Emesent will ensure the account is configured correctly ahead of launch. Further details will be requested if needed.
Nominate a Transition Contact
Step 2: Await the launch of Aura 2.0
With the release of Aura 2.0, the nominated transition contact will receive an account setup email and will be able to grant access to additional users within the organization.
