Commander and Cortex Support for LHD
Emesent strongly recommends operating Hovermap with the latest supported versions of Aura, Cortex, and Commander.
Deprecated versions of Cortex and Commander contain known issues that may cause Hovermap autonomy failures during flight and significantly increase the risk of mission failure.
To maintain performance, safety, and warranty coverage, always ensure Hovermap is operated with the most up-to-date Emesent software.
Known Compatibility Issues
- Hovermap LHD units and DJI SDK V4 drones are not supported when Commander 2.0 is used together with Cortex release 3.4.
- Aura releases earlier than 1.7 cannot process datasets created with Cortex 3.3 or later.

Fast data offload is only supported when Cortex 3.3 or later is used together with Aura 1.7 or later.
Cortex versions 3.0.0 and below do not support Commander. These versions were operated using the Hovermap app, which has since been deprecated.

Aura and Cortex Version Compatibility
Fast Data Offload
Fast data offload was introduced in Cortex 3.3, which significantly reduces scan file size and improves offload speed. To process scans captured using this new format, you must use Aura version 1.7 or later.
Aura 1.7 + is fully backward compatible and can process scans captured with earlier versions of Cortex. However, Aura versions prior to 1.7 are not compatible with scans captured using Cortex 3.3 or later.
To avoid processing issues or compatibility errors, ensure your Aura version matches the Cortex version used to capture the scan data, as shown in the table below.

Aura Licensing Compatibility
Aura licensing has transitioned from hardware dongles to account-based access. Aura 2.0 and later use Concurrent User Licensing (CUL), managed through the Emesent User Management Portal. Earlier versions, including Aura 1.10.2, require a hardware dongle. To avoid interruptions and ensure access to the latest features, Emesent recommends upgrading to Aura 2.0 or later.

Commander and Cortex Support for LHD
With the onboard processing changes introduced in Cortex 4.0.0 and Commander 2.1, the current release workflow may not be optimal for certain LHD use cases. Emesent recommends Commander 1.5.1 and Cortex 3.3.3 as a supported fallback option.
