This article explains how to power the GX1 from an external source through the USB-C Port on the GX1 Control Panel. External power runs the GX1 without relying on the battery and charges an installed battery while connected.
Prerequisites
A GX1.
A USB-C charger rated at 65W or higher, and a USB-C cable that supports it. The USB-C cable is not included with the GX1.
A battery does not need to be installed to run the GX1 on external power.
Procedure
Step 1: Connect external power
Connect the USB-C cable to the external power source.
Connect the other end to the USB-C Port on the GX1 Control Panel.
Step 2: Confirm the GX1 is receiving power
Confirm the orange Power Button light illuminates. This indicates the GX1 is receiving power.
Power on the GX1. See Power GX1 on and off.
Check the Status Indicator Ring on the GX1. See GX1 status indicator ring.
Outcome
The GX1 is running on external power, and an installed battery charges while external power is connected. Use external power for charging, scan offload, and other non-scan tasks. Run the GX1 on battery for a scan.
Additional information
Do not power the GX1 over USB-C during a scan. Run the GX1 on battery power for a scan.
The USB-C Port is also used for scan offload and firmware upgrades.
To charge GX1 batteries outside the device, see Charge GX1 batteries.
