DJI M300 and M350 Setup Guide

Prev Next

This guide outlines how to prepare a DJI Matrice 300 or Matrice 350 drone to carry Hovermap. Once set up, the drone and Hovermap can share autonomy command data and receive GPS through the Emesent-supplied OSDK cable.

The key steps in this guide are:

  1. Set up the DJI M300 or M350 for Hovermap covers mounting Hovermap to the drone.

  2. Activate the DJI SDK for Hovermap on the M300 or M350 covers installing DJI Assistant 2, updating the firmware, configuring the onboard SDK, and activating the mobile SDK in Emesent Commander.

  3. Install Emesent Commander on an Android tablet covers installing the Commander app on the tablet used with the DJI RC Plus controller.

Pre-flight checklist

  • Hovermap is running the latest release of Cortex and Commander, or a minimum of Cortex version 3.4.

  • The DJI RC Plus controller is fully charged and paired with the drone.

  • The M300 or M350 batteries are fully charged.

  • The drone is running Emesent-approved firmware (see Activate the DJI SDK for Hovermap on the M300 or M350 for the compatibility table).

  • The onboard SDK is configured for the M300, or the M350 has had its initial DJI Pilot settings applied.

Drone firmware compatibility

Use only Emesent-approved firmware on the M300 or M350. Installing the wrong firmware on the DJI RC Plus controller stops it working with the drone, and upgrading drone firmware beyond the approved version may break compatibility with Hovermap.

For the current approved firmware versions, see Supported Devices & Compatibility.

Do not make any changes to the DJI drone firmware if it was supplied with a barometric modification. Updating or changing the drone firmware removes the modification.

Additional information

For more detailed information on the M300 or M350, the DJI RC Plus controller, and standard DJI operations, refer to the DJI Enterprise documentation for the relevant airframe.
