Cortex is the onboard system software that operates directly on the Hovermap unit. It performs live Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) computation to generate the real-time spatial data visualised in Commander. Cortex also manages all onboard sensors, controls data recording, and oversees internal system functions throughout the scanning operation.
As the core processing component of the Hovermap system, Cortex underpins all autonomous and manual workflows, ensuring stable performance, accurate data capture, and reliable communication between the Hovermap unit and connected devices.
Key functions include:
Real-time SLAM processing: generate 3D mapping and localisation data to support live visualisation in Commander
System management: control onboard services, sensors, and data storage functions
Diagnostics: provide access to operational logs, system status, and performance health information
Firmware management: manage software versioning, upgrades, and configuration control
Web interface hosting: provide access to the Payload Web UI for configuration, data management, and maintenance operations.
